I dont know if this is the problem but i had power issues with mine once and it was the breaker that I didn't know existed because it was in a different compartment of my boat, i thought it was a broken wire because other wires worked but found out that all i had to do was change a couple dollar circuit breaker and like magic it worked..... Just a thought because you said bypassing the power cables gave you power
