As far as I know you cannot share trails/routes via ethernet, you can copy them via an SD card in the map chip slot.

As for sharing data with your buddy, that depends on how the data is organized on each of your units, some waypoint data can be lost when downloading because Lowrance has chosen to have those things be proprietary instead of some standard.
