I've run both the 1700 and the 1760. The biggest difference is that the specs on one versus the other do not tell the full story. Basically, the 1760 is ALOT MORE BOAT. A 1760 is only a little over a half a foot longer, but the increased width inflates the overall size. Hard to describe beyond saying the 1700 is a perfect boat if you're only going to fish 2 at a time and probably never going to be in any waves over 3' for more than the time it takes to get back to the launch/lodge/dock. The 1760 fishes 3 comfortably (and 4, but it's a little cramped), can handle bigger waves than 3' and has greatly enhanced fishability.
