Location: St. Germain, WI | I just finished up my buddies 18' single console aluminum boat. I redid all the decking, new carpet, fixed some busted plumbing and valves, repaired aluminum hatch covers. I had a little over $900 in materials and about 45hrs in labor. It is time consuming and with any restoration so much of it is in prep work. stripping all the old glue off the hatch covers and other aluminum parts are a pain. The actual recarpeting takes time and there is a learning curve to doing hatch lids. I have done a few boats before and my background is cabinet making and finish carpentry, so I have all the tools and general know how. There is a real self satisfaction to doing your own boat and you shouldn't be afraid to give it a try. |
