Paul S - yes, definitely getting a 12 foot Talon but if the rock pile I wanna fish is in 15 ft of water it won’t help me. I think spot lock’s going to be great but if it’s moderately windy would thing that troll motor constantly turning back and forth to hold position would be a bit annoying.

I just look at it as how much better these tools allow us to hold our boat position compared to the past. It won't be 100% perfect but it is soooooo much better than what we had just a couple years ago. It will make fishing those windy days much easier.

With the spot-lock, if you can point your bow into the wind there shouldn't be much turning. By the way, I have read in multiple places that the F150 dynos out at 167 HP. Such a great motor but I do like the 4-stroke Merc too. You're not going to go wrong with either choice.
