Spend a lot of time on big water (bay of GB) and primarily fish from a similar lund to what you speak of. Your are right it is a sail but not as much as the older models and I agree with the previous post to get a really linkable good trolling motor. You are also right that the side rails are higher than the skeeter MX, but high rails are wonderful to lean against when casting when its rough. For smaller water I would take the skeeter, for bigger water I would go with the Lund. I have also fished out of a skeeter 18 when its rough and it does not handle the big swells like the lund. From personal experience you can have a lund fall off the trailer in the middle of the highway, put it back on the trailer with a lift and drop in in the water with no leaks whatsoever, not that you plan to do that but you can.
