Go strapless.

I also like what ulbian is talking about...you can do some amazing things with LED lighting these days. There are some salt water applications that are sick. Easy too.
I think I remember Esoxfly did some pretty cool stuff to sled's old Ranger. It's probably here somewhere. Good stuff.
