Four stroke would be a better troller, fuel mileage is comparable especially if you don't scream around keeping in mind that 4 mpg is good for boats. I promise that you will be happy with either style motor. I'd rather keep the main motor off while fishing to spare the wear on it for when I need it, potentially sucking up weeds or any other problematic scenerio that may happen when not forcing water through the motor like when on plane.
