I bet he's correct. I'd bet your ride is not propped correctly. You may also need to check your motor height. Dead giveaway is max RPMs below the recommended, and a bad hole shot. What's your WOT tach reading?

I ran an X190 with a 175 XS and had a 4 second hole shot with mid 50's loaded speed. Not all that different a hull. It's worth the try to reprop the boat, you may really be happy then.
