Do yours have the clear/see through end caps? Is the oil still 'clear' or is it milky looking? Milky is still okay(2 drops of water will turn the hub oil milky), but it shouldn't be 'chunky'. I would adhere to the 3-4 year rule, though mine normally show some color after a couple seasons of hard use so I change it. I changed the seals/hub liner/all o-rings last season on the side that gave me the most grief, and no worries to date. One thing I did was go back to the Ranger recomended inner seal, which is much more substantial/thicker walled than the Napa seal that was in it.

If you do change it, put a bit of red silicon on the threads of the allen screw before putting it back in. Ensures a seal, and helps in removal next time.
