I've got some rails on the back of my bass boat. They work great with Scotty rod holders. No extensions needed.

I also have some rod holders that mount right over the tie up cleat. They work with almost any rod holder system, and you can still use the cleat.

With this setup and I can easily troll 8 rods if I have to. But normally I use them when soaking suckers and they all work great.


Would you care to share some pictures of the over cleat rod holders? I did some googlin and it looks like there are multiple styles. Also did your boat come with rails or did you install them? I don't have access to the underside of my gunnel to attach a rail. Thanks for the reply.
