Owning the 3.5 Ecoboost I can say I was leaning towards the 5.0 but then DROVE the 3.5 eco and I was sold in a heartbeat. If you have not done it....do it !! Then at least you'll know.
It is amazing. But the 5.0 is a nice truck too so it's hard to go wrong either way.
When I was buying it, I had (through business connections) access to Ford truck's engineering group. I asked a couple of folks in the department their opinion (given what I tow). They said "definitely if you tow, get the ecoboost". They also said "if you don't tow, the 5,0 is indeed a great choice."

Don't let anyone tell you the eco gets better mileage or the 5.0 gets better mileage or any of them do. They are TRUCKS. They get lousy mileage. Don't buy a truck for the gas mileage.
