Agree with doing the job right, and sewing a new clip in is certainly by the book.

However, it sounded like he was looking for a quick fix and simply securing the new clip to the old frame takes 15 min, and will function identically. On my own boat I did this and it stayed like that for a couple of years until I got tired of trying to figure out which clip went where and just cut a couple of those straps off... no issues.

Now, I like to do stuff by the book as well; but sometimes a temporary fix ends up being a permanent repair too
