I'd use the bracket. And go to port side so you have a clearer view of the lake. And docks. I have my terrova paddle locked just randomly check the set screw to make sure it's tight. I used a sliding MK plate I think it was made for older motors. And install had to be Easter with the bracket.

I put the motor on the bracket and held on the boat made a couple marks. Took the motor and attached bracket off the other half. And mounted the plate to the boat rather than the heavy motor perched up front
