I have a 40 horse 4 stroke evinrude. Prop is 11 1/2 x 13. (Factory recommneded)

When I was running that this year, at full throttle, I was about 200-400 rpm's over the max. A few questions:

1) Is that ok for the engine?
2) I have been recommended a 11/14 X 14 in aluminum or 10 1/2 x 14 in SS.
I was told this would give me more speed and bring down the rpm's
200-500?
3) Another recommnedation is going to a bigger pitch - from 14 to 15??

I use my boat 90% of the time fishing and the remaining 10% is tubing.
What do you guys think about the scenario's above?

Lastly, is SS worth the investment? I went thru one prop this years after hitting some rocks.
