Subject: Prop question/suggestion?

Location: Lake Geneva, WI
I'm in need of some help regarding my prop setup. I bought the boat last fall, 1995 skeeter S1850 18' with a 95 175 Mercury efi. The boat came with two stainless props, one is a tempest 25 pitch, which cannot get the boat on plane with the gas tank full and two people in the boat. The prop that is on the boat is a 28 pitch 3 blade (I think, I couldn't find on the prop). With this prop I am able to get up on plane, but need to go full throttle and I does take a while to get up 25-35 seconds I'm guessing, the hole shot is terrible, the rpms are around 4400 at full throttle on plane. Also it seems like I am pushing a lot of water when I do finally get on plane vs. the boat being up on top of the water.

I really don't know much about props, but I know that something is not right with current prop set up. Does anyone have any suggestions on what prop/pitch this set up should have. Is there somewhere in the metro that I could try out a few different props?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Mike
