Electronics will have a low voltage shutdown setting, around 10 volts. If your voltage is below 12 and you factor in a slight drop thru the wiring and switch, it doesn't take much to see down around 10 volts AT the units. Mine will start shutting off when I crank the outboard if the battery needs charging.
