It is definitely at least in part a prop issue. He had it out with the second prop it came with, and had significantly better performance both with him alone and loaded. Based on this alone, i'm certain that the right prop will help significantly. I've also been in similar boats with similar motors that had no problem getting up on plane even with 2 or 3 people in them...not "high performance" but certainly acceptable for a small boat like that.

He called the local Honda Marine dealer, and they said they could not help him determine which prop is correct for his setup!!! I simply dont believe that. Without a tach, Id have thought every honda marine dealer on the planet would be able to look up the recommended prop for a 16' tin boat...there's only a zillion of those rigs out there. Unless anyone has access to that sort of info, I guess we'll Call Honda CS and see what they say.
