I just have a basic Powerdrive with no autopilot or anything so take this with a grain of salt but my take on the remote vs foot pedal:

I can't imagine only using a remote. For pulling bottom bouncers or something for walleyes it's probably great but I can't imagine using it for muskies. I'm micro adjusting my trolling motor all the time with my foot pedal. On a windy day probably a few adjustments during a cast at times. Trying to do that and present a bait correctly with a remote seems like it would be a nightmare.

Whatever option you go with I'd make sure you are able to use a foot pedal.
