It should have a 3amp fuse between the unit and the battery. It doesn't matter if you got straight to the battery or through a terminal block.

Sorry, I don't know the adapter needed. I used the transducer that came with my 998. I wanted the side and down imaging up front. Here's a good video on the installation method if you are interested. I used silicone instead of epoxy.
