Unless there is something about Mercury that I am unfamiliar with I would just use a set of flushing muffs over the intake on the lower unit. I have them and use them on my Yamaha 4s all the time. In regards to the flush connection, I was told never to do that as it doesn't provide the cooling aspect required. Just my expierence but I know there are a lot more expierenced people on here.
