Deano,

Merc recommends oil change every 100hrs, and oil changes run about $80 if you use Merc oil. Average fuel consumption with the 4 stroke seem to around 6gph at cruise which is similar to the Etech. If you were to run 100 hrs at cruise you would suck down around 600 gallons of gas which at 80:1 should require 7.5 gallons of oil per year (about $340 worth of oil). With the bigger engines like the 250 the gap widens with the increased fuel consumption per hour. The way I drive I would need about 15 gallons of oil a year if I drove an Etech... The sad thing is after figuring out all this stuff I discovered how much money I spent on gas last year and it isn't pretty! In the end both are great motors, but it does cost less oil wise with a four in most cases.

You need to get a new boat anyways, 620 with a big Black pretty V'rod on the back!
