I just measured the rod locker on my 2000 1750 and it is 7' 3". With some modifications you could make the rod locker longer. Towards the bow you could do what has been mentioned above, or towards the stern you could drill and gain a lot of room also. The stern end of the rod locker you would have to drill through metal, but the other side of the metal is void of anything and is wasted space.
