Note: the 600 series is not networkable. MSRP on the 688 is $499. if you want to spend an extra $100, you can get an 859 for $599. Or, as I recently did, you could get a discontinued 788 for $350. I don't know all of the differences between the old 700 series (which they seem to be phasing out) and the new 600 series are, but if the units are networkable, they can share waypoints, routes, etc. Moreover if you ever get an iPilot Link, which you should, then both networked units can communicate with the trolling motor. The 688 cannot share waypoints or communicate with iPilot link.
Food for thought.
Pm if you want to know where I ordered the 788 for $350 (MSRP $699).
I actually had the 788 on my old boat. The reason I want the 600 series over something larger is that I also use that locator for ice fishing and the larger series won't fit in the Humminbird Kit. I am getting I pilot link which will work off the rear locator and of course I will have the remote. While it would be nice to have the functionality from the front as well, then I have to buy yet another unit for ice fishing and didn't want to do that.
Besides I fish from the back for everything but bass. |
