Location: Eau Claire, WI		I have a Ranger 690 with a 175 Mariner, 21 pitch 3 blade Tempest. It will top out at 5400-5500 RPM.

I have not played with the props I don't need any more and have always been conservative with my motors. I would suggest getting your tach checked as stated earlier.
