Is the terrova different enough that I'm likely to have a problem? Im not against the detachable mount if its helpful, just trying to understand if I'm actually likely to need it.

Yes. The Terrova hangs over the boat enough that it can hit the winch tower; especially on glass boats that have an angled top cap and the rub rail sticks out further than where the TM mounts. You have to mount the Terrova "out" far enough so that the shaft, when deployed doesn't hit the rub rail....this hangs it out over the side of the boat. When mounting it, look at it from above to ensure your prop or pwerhead isn't sitting over the winch tower so when the boat slides off the trailer, it won't hit. With the 60" shaft (which is what I have as well on my Riptide) you'll have to look back and make sure the head isn't hanging out over the gunwhale when stowed.
