"Center console" covers a wide array of boats, from 40' offshore boats with coffin boxes and three outboards, down to a 16' tin boat with a steering wheel in the middle of it.

Smaller boats, the console can take up precious space. In a 20-24' bay boat style set up, I think they're great and handle a wide range of water and are well suited to muskie fishing. I fish from a 20' Ranger bay boat and I've used it from LSC to here in Kodiak waters. I take this thing 12 miles offshore comfortably and it gets me there and back in good time. Bay boats are boating perfections for my uses and purposes. I doubt I'll ever not be in some sort of bay boat...but I'm almost exclusively a big water fisherman, be it for muskie, salmon or halibut....I'm on big water and the bays work well for that. I love driving standing up; to the point that I feel weird sitting down in a boat while on plane now.

I mis spoke there. Sorry about that. I run a Fountain 38 Center Console off shore I just (and shouldn;t) refer to a CC if its a bay center console. Force of habit. I like the layout of the 20' ranger. Thanks for your input

Ah, you know what I mean then. Nevermind...I just mentioned that because I've talked to guys shopping for CC boats that are looking at a boat that would actually make a horrible muskie casting boat, but they're looking at it just because it's a CC...a lot of Whalers come to mind. But you're familiar with them, so you know what you're looking for.

BTW, I'm not a sport boat kinda guy, but I have always love Fountains. Gorgeous boats!
