You will loose sum H.P. to a jet that is why I get the biggest motor permissable for that boat. My belief is there is only one thing better than power and that is more power. If you are in shallow water believe me you want a jet. I replaced a lower unit on a Honda and had numerous propellers rebuilt till I saw the light and got a jet. Sure you will suck up some gravel from time to time. My impeller is a plastic material and I have not had to replace it yet, its a wear and tear item and when I finally do its going to be a stainless steel impeller. Trust me if you are fishing and or boating in shallow water don't waste your money doing it twice get a jet to start you will be happy you did. I learned the hard way on that one. A tunnel jet will get you even shallower and less likely to inhale gravel, sand not as rough on impellers as rock. I'm so happy with my G3, been in 3 three inches of water already.
