Hi, have him google lowrance the model and soft reset and hard reset codes. I did it for an old lms 334c I had and was able to find the way to do them both. It was just holding down a couple keys plus the power button when you power it on and then holding the buttons until the map appeared. Super easy, not sure that's the problem but its worth a try.
