| I recarpeted a 1700 renegade. They are tougher than some other boats if you have a model with a top cap because the carpet runs up underneath it. I ended up removing the rub rail (I installed a new one after) and all the additional screws that hold the top cap in place, and then elevated the top cap with 2x4's between the top cap and the hull so I could get all the carpet out and new carpet in. Without doing this I think you'd have to just run the carpet up under the top cap only as far as you could reach. Otherwise, it was a do-able project, just a lot of work. Save the old carpet you remove to use as a template for cutting the new carpet. I used Goof Off to remove the old adhesive from the floor, acetone for final prep, and 3M High Strength 90 for the new adhesive. The finished product was outstanding. Good luck! | |
