| I agree with the holding water comment. I just replaced the entire transom due to rot. I have just spent the last several months rebuilding the boat, and it is about 90% done. I bought this boat knowing it had issues, because I love the layout. In my opinion this is one of the last musky boats built except (esox magnum still built). Since the early 2000's, boat builders have been pushing the walleye boats as musky boats. Example the last true musky boat built by ranger was the 681vs then they went to the 619. Way bigger, heavier, deeper, front and rear casting decks become options, and more costly to run. To me and many others a musky nuts boat has to have the following, a big release well, large gunnels for walking along the sides of the boat, larger rod storage, and lastly it has to keep you close to the water. That is why you still see these specific old boat models still catching high dollars. ei a 2000 ranger 681 for 17000, its 13 year olds.? Rampage like the Range has all of the musky bells and whistles. About the only thing I would change is the width, it needs a couple inches not much. As for fishiblity I take it to Canada (fishing in 4 footers all day without issue) and Wisconsin. Mine is setup as a tiller so my boat control is awesome from the back. I can come around spots in 3-4 footers fishing the entire time using a combination of rear motors to slow me down and front trolling motors to stear. I have had a big walleye boat and I feel I lose precise boat control due to the larger beams (96 + beam.). If you are willing to do a bit of work I would say get one.
Things I had to do to fix mine up.
New graphs (I mounted the fishfinder on the right side by my knee) Humminbird 1198.
New wiring
New fuse block
total battery kill switch
New charging system
Ipilot 80lbs terrova
Demo 90 hp optimax with a Merc big triller on a Merten Hydrolic system. (Hands down the best, I would never buy a tiller without one)
New carpet ( doing carpet sucks just to warn you)
New transom
vhf radio
on and on and on. I'm 15000 invested.
Great boat.
