When trailering you want everything tight. Bow tight against bow roller, tie downs tight, transom saver firmly in place. What your trying to accomplish is making the boat and trailer into a single unit while going down the road. Also never keep everything tight more than 24 hours ( you can damage the hull), only while trailering. When just sitting in storage loosen all tie downs and remove the transom saver and store the motor in a down position to let it drain water.
