I just installed a 8hp kicker on my tiller boat with a 90 hp. Strictly for the backup. After talking to the Merc people. I elected to keep it hooked to it's remote tank and store it in the splash well. The Merc tech stated that check valves needed to be installed on each line when T ing off the main tank to prevent syphoning from the other motor. This also gives me the option to take the kicker off and put it on a smaller row boat.
