I have a 165 Competitor and I have 6'9 and 6'10 Muskie rods and they fit. Just for kicks, I just went into the garage and tried my 7'0 spinning rod and it fit as well, with maybe 1-2 inches to spare at most (meaning a 7'2 rod "may" fit).

I will say though, that I don't think the rods go "straight" in. I think they will run into the curvature of the bow for the last 3-4 inches and I think there is some slight flex to the blanks near the tip when they are stored. I haven't broken out the tape to factually measure this (so take it for what it's worth!), I'm just going by how it feels when I put them in to store. I keep mine in rod socks and they don't bind or stick at all and I haven't noticed any issues with scratching or anything like that.

Obviously with two piece rods the length is a complete non-issue. I don't think you'd be popping end caps off to gain more space though!
