One of our rigs gets used in a river system allot. We put a skeg replacement on the first time it was needed. After that I just filed it smooth. There's not much skeg left on it but that boat runs great. It's a tiller 50 hp so you are hanging on to the arm anyway. I would say really look it over to see if you need it. ( If I buy Do-Dads, and I have I want to see them above the water line)
