what gmanny1 said. Remember the skeg protector is bolting to your aluminum skeg. So its still no stronger than it was. Now if you hit something and it breaks its goin to break higher up the sked costing a lot more to fix. I used to work for a place that fixed props and skegs and we would see this on occasion. Also welded a lot of cavitation plates from people putting hydro foils on. I say just get it fixed.
