How does this happen? I've run mine for 4 years without incident. Is this a case were it isn't fully locked in place before you motor off? Not criticizing folks, just want to know what is causing this so I can avoid it happening to me.



My partner up front didn't lock it down correctly. (Idiot)

He was whining all weekend about it being a pain to deploy, so he cheated and didn't lock it down. We were just going across to another spot and hit 45 when it dropped down. It blew up real good.

Some other guys were fishing near us gave us a standing ovation. Lol. Parts were in stock, about $170 with shipping I think.

That's how it happens.


While it sucks that this happened, I can imagine how awesome it would be to witness this from a nearby boat.
