I found the source of the problem a 3 year or to ago. There are 2 bolt that control the carriage for the release. These bolts are connected to the V that holds the trolling motor in place. It is this assembly that connects to the lever in the front of the terrova. I have found the issues after a buddies accidentally deployed. Take off the side covers and make sure that the screws in that assembly at the front (motor) side are tight. My buddies where loose and missing on one side. The constant pounding, and repeated stow and deploy of the trolling motor loosens these bolts. I pulled them out of my buddies goobered them up with loc tight (non removeable) and reset them. No issues since. To me it was a design flaw not to have some type of bushing on the screw with a nylon washer. SO IF YOUR MOTOR WIGGLES BACK AND FORTH MORE THAN A 3/4 - 1 1/2 INCH THAT MEANS THOSE BOLTS ARE LOOSE. Once you fix it will not be able to slide more than a 1/2 inch, or so. Do yourself a favor and take it all part and reset those bolts with loctite.
