I use "Dirtex" (Same company that makes TSP -tri sodium phosphate). It does not suds up like other detergents and rinses easier too. Residual suds make for a slippery carpet the next time it gets wet. I mix a concentrate with hot water and brush it into my carpeting with a fairly firm bristled brush. Then pressure washer to flush dirtex etc through the bilge (leave plug open) then I finish with a wet/dry shop vac to help lift remaining soil and water. Elbow grease is a key component but noticeably worth the effort.
