Get a different builder! If he can't make the garage bigger, he's not a home builder, he's just a contractor.

I made my boat stall 25 deep with a 10 X 8 door. A week after putting the boat in the stall the first time, I wish I had moved the stairs back another 9 feet! 10 X 8 foot door is minimum.
