I upgraded my electronics to Elite 7 HDI units on the bow and console of my Ranger 680c. The front unit is the chartplotter and sonar unit which runs through the new Terrova with U2 installed when upgrading to the HDI's. The console unit is the combo with chartplotter, sonar and DI with transducer on the transom. Both units are "networked" to share waypoints.

Last week I had a chance to use them while fishing 5 days on the Manitowish Chain in Vilas County, WI. Overall, I really like the units - pretty easy to use right out of the box and the big screens are great - really crisp graphics and easy to read. I could actually read the front unit while sitting at the console. However, I did experience one issue I am trying to figure out and haven't been able to pinpoint while troubleshooting in the manual.

Often times, when first turning on the unit (which takes about a minute or so to boot up), after powering on the water depth, MPH, and water temp readings would not show. The numbers would just blink 0.0. But, depth was still determinable by reading the chart down the right side of the sonar graph. Sometimes while powering on the second unit, it would cause this issue to occur with the other unit. The only way I figured out to fix this issue on the water was to flip through the options and "Restore Default Settings." Once I restored to default settings, I would not experience the issue again until powering off and powering back up. Anyone, have any idea what might be causing this issue?
