| Do you want to do the entire thing or are you leaving it unraised in front of the seats so you have leg room?
A few years back I made up two removable deck inserts to accomplish pretty much the same task. Just simple 3/4 inch ply wood screwed onto a wooden frame made up of 2x2 material. Going to redo those at some point this year but instead of duplicating what I have the plan is to make 4-5 different inserts/removable deck pieces so that they can be moved around and allow me to fill that whole tub area in except for the area by the console.
I did not like the idea of making a permanent deck extension because of the needed flexibility. Even though I didn't carpet what I have and it might seem crude, anyone who has fished out of my boat with those pieces in there have raved about it. I believe TJ Devoe was with me the first time they were used.
So you don't have to over think this type of a project. I'd suggest coming up with something that offers you flexibility and doesn't back you in a corner. Having huge deck space is wonderful but it's not user friendly if you pile a bunch of people in your boat and go bullhead, sucker, whitebass etc. fishing or if you are taking a few folks out just for fun. | |
