With the 4 stroke engines and Yamaha's designed trolling system, you will be fine using it to troll. Those engines are quite efficient to do so.

Now...if you are trying to really slow down to a crawl like some people do for walleyes, then a kicker or electric would be the way to go, as even the bigger motors cannot always troll down far enough.
