Location: Iowa | Up very early one morning to go to the Mississippi to catch some bass. Drive about an hour, back boat in, park truck, get in boat........no rods or tackle bags in the boat! Get truck, load boat, start heading home, thinking what the ....? Stopped at the gas station I was at and looked around. Watched the road all the way home. Nothing. I live in a small town and always loaded the boat the night before, if I was leaving early. Never had a worry. Well, on this night, someone was snooping, or watched me load, and decided they needed the equipment more than I did. The police officer came up with 1 rod that was tossed in a yard up the street. Insurance gave me a check for the rest. That wasn't my shortest, but most discouraging. I had one last year. About 35 minute drive to lake, back in, outboard won't start. Not even firing. Pull it out. Check fuel lines and filter to make sure it's getting gas. Consider burning the whole outfit. Driving home and realize I don't remember seeing my safety lanyard. Keep driving home anyway because I've had by now. Get home, see the lanyard laying on floor. I never pull this out, so apparently the wind caught it just right so it pulled out. Hooked up the muffs. Put lanyard back in and it fired right up. Lost interest at that point. I won't forget to check that again!!
