Subject: mounting GPS on a tiller boat

I’m in the process of rebuilding a 2000 Tuffy Rampage. Since I have already invested in a new motor, big tiller handle, and the new titan hydraulic system, I figure I might as well get all new electronics and be done. I have removed and sold a bunch of the electronics and will be getting new ones. Here is a question for you those out there. The boat is a tiller, on most tiller boat the electronics are setup on the left side of the boat. I’m setting up this tiller to run in Canada where I need constant view of GPS and to be able to reach over zoom in and out to avoid rocks. Has anybody ever mounted there electronics on the right side of tiller boat? I’m either getting a the big hummingbird 1198 or the HDS10 and am thinking of mounting it on the big ram swing mount within reach of the driver tiller seat. This way when driving I can be facing the front looking down at the GPS, and when fishing I can swing it so that I can view it from my fishing position in the back of the boat. I’m used to working the boat from the back and on my console boat I don’t find it to be a hassle looking at the GPS on the console. I’m just wondering if anybody has any thoughts of going against the grain and mounting it on the right.
