I have a 12V trolling motor and a good battery but days when I fish for 12+ hours the battery gets pretty drained, especially in the wind and I was thinking of adding a second battery in parallel this year (positive to positive and negative to negative...).

I just want to be sure I know what I am getting into. I understand that if I get a new battery it will selectivly draw off that one first until the potentials are similar...

Any advice, your past results... How much longer will my batter last, it cant just double the time. If anyone has advice about the onboard charger that would also help. I have one but dont know how it will do charging two batteries, I may need to upgrade that as well...

Thanks in advance!
