| I bought a used Rampage that is in need of a rebuild. I will be switching out electronics, rewiring, resurfacing the hull, and re powering the boat with more HP. I'm hoping somebody out there can help me with some speed data for a 2000 tuffy rampage magnum.
60 hp = 32MPH
75 hp = ?
90 hp = ?
115 hp = ?
135 hp = ?
The boat is rated for a 135 and I have seem a bunch of them, so I'm hoping somebody out there can let me know top speed with motor you were running. I'm trying to figure out what I need to get 40 mph. It currently has a 2002 60 hp Merc 4 stroke that does about 32 with the wind at your back. If you load up 2 or 3 guys it quick drops to 28. I had the motor checked out and it has a clean bill of health, so that is all she puts out. In the spring I'm planning of selling this motor and getting something bigger. I do not have a need for speed but would like to hit 38-40. This boat will be used in Canada where we put on lots of miles, so 30 is just too slow. 50 MPH is to fast as I have kids that will eventually take out the boat. Do you think 40 mph is attainable with a 90 hp optimax? Or should I jump to a 115. I found a deal on the used 90 opti that would be great for my pocket book.
Thanks
Chris
