| I also agree, Vegas, while if you know clearly you have a really large heavy boat, and will be fishing big rough water for very long days, you don't have a choice. But with great power can come great headache. After all the above, -- extra cost of unit itself, ex. $ of another charging bank, ex. $ of another battery, even the first time around.
Now you have to think of all the possibility of having to diagnose shortage or deffect issues multiplied. A set of batteries is only as good as the worst one. If you have one battery not taking a full charge, the others will only perform as well as it. Now you have to figure out is it a bad cell, is it a bad charging bank is it a combination ? I have had very expensive 3 bank chargers have one bank go bad. I have had expensive chargers that dont seem to charge consistently. This can be a nightmare on a Short week trip, when you finally get to the lake you've been dying to fish since, (NOW.)
I am fully on board with 'better to overpower than under power', but think of replacing 3 batteries everytime one goes bad. Even If one goes bad under warranty, they aint gonna warranty two other half-lifers! Ive got a pretty heavy sleigh, especially with an extra 500 pounds of dawgs, and Fifth lake's fat nice try, ))
but plugging in as part of tying up the boat religiously has kept running out of juice very seldom. . I cant imagine THAT many other people capable or crazy enouph to fish 3-5 foot swells for true full days, other than the Hamm himself, and even he takes a break! --for his customers-- :))
If you need it, you know you need it, but only the idiot wants to spend money just to spend money. tough call just my 1.3 cents | |
