Put a 998c SI on my Crestliner 1650 with a 75 Yamaha . No problems with interference .
You should have no problem. I set it as low as possible to the side of the motor I think they recommended 15" out from the motor but I was able to do around 11" . As far as on plane read out, Even setting it as low as possible I loose contact .
