Realistically $2k is not out of line-Based on 20oz carpent pricing, adhesive remover, glue and other misc supplies will run you an easy $500. Figure in what I would estimate to be 2-8 hour days(minimum) to remove, prep and replace at a shop rate of $80/hour it doesnt take long to in the $2k range.

That said if you are anyway handy-like every one else said-it is not hard to do, it just takes time and paitence.
